AWWA is an international non-profit scientific and
educationalsociety dedicated to the improvement of
drinking water quality and supply.
Blue
Thumb Campaign
The campaign is a national call to action on drinking
water issues. It is intended to raise awareness of the
need to protect water, conserve it, and to get involved
in decisions concerning drinking water resources and
supplies. A major component of the campaign is National
Drinking Water Week, held annually during the first full
week of May. The 1997 theme is "Drinking Water
Counts on You."
Partnership
for Safe Water
The Partnership for Safe Water is a unique cooperative
effort between EPA, American Water Works Association,
Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies, National
Association of Water Companies, and Association of State
Drinking Water Administrators that encourages and assists
U.S. water suppliers to voluntarily enhance their water
systems performance for greater control of Cryptosporidium,
Giardia and other microbial contaminants.
